Just had to brag about our find. Albertson's is clearing out there summer stuff and they had a deal where you can fill up a bag for 3 bucks. We got 11 of the helicopters and boats (to take to Colin's school) marked 50 cents each (originally 2 bucks) everything else probably adds up to 15 more bucks at their clearance prices... and an ungodly sum at full price... just goes to show you how much crap like this is actually worth...

Colin and I went to the Children's museum today, and I realized we hadn't taken any pics there in some time. He still spends most of his time in the train room ,but he likes to play in the kitchen now too. They are in the middle or remodeling the kitchen area, but they have some new toys out like this sandwich station...

Our powerbook crapped out this weekend and refused to even acknowledge that it had a hard drive. The instructions I found online for a DIY upgrade had an unpleasant number of warning exclamation points throughout them, but getting someone else to do it was gong to cost like 100 bucks, plus the drive. So I decided to go for it and hit Fry's this morning and spent Colin's nap splaying and reassembling the little PB with 2 dozen screws laid out in tiny constellations so as not to get mixed up. I thought I had all the tools I needed, but my smallest hex wrench was too big so I had to macgyver those out with a nail. Everything else went fairly smoothly, but I broke the F12 key and I didn't get the keyboard cable seated right on the first try, but overall it wasn't that painful, and it is already up and running with the OS installed in under two hours...

overheard

While at Costco today I overheard the following conversation tidbits from the same enlightened and ponytailed individual:

"and I had my gun on me that day, as I increasingly do while walking in Aloha at night... my hand was in my pocket and the safety was off, if he was going to come at me - bullets were going to fly (referring to an unleashed bulldog in someone's yard he walked by)"

and then later in his conversation: "you know traditionally countries that have women running them, that let women be in charge, are usually in their last throes... I mean historically speaking"

anyway... just had to share.
