Mmmm… cookies

I rarely bake anything since I prefer to look at recipes more as guidelines- a habit that doesn’t lend itself to situations where a table spoon of flour can ruin the whole thing. My mom always used the toll house recipe and cooled the cookies on newspaper which made them very crispy. I always ate them, and I liked them but I really prefer them more on the chewy side. I decided to try baking chocolate chip cookies this week using the ATK big and chewy recipe (which also happens to be the way I prefer my beer). I also liked the idea of baking two trays of big cookies instead of four trays of small cookies. I over cooked them a bit so they still turned out crunchy around the edges, but nothing a big glass of milk can’t overcome. Also, to satisfy my need to not follow a recipe to the letter I threw in some peanut butter chips, since I think chocolate is almost always better with some PB.

We want to make sure Colin grows up to be a smart kid… so in case the baby Einstein videos didn’t work we decided these couldn’t hurt.

What motivated them to do it in the first place (since if was a geek driving the car they would not have felt the need to explain it, and they would have said geek instead of nerd)? Did they really vote for W? What did the paper on the driver's side say before it was torn down?

I'll probably never know.

It is really a pretty straightforward task we probably should have done months ago. Our old (and I mean old) baby blue toilet refused to flush properly and used a ton of water (and it was baby blue). Now if we can just make the time/money to get rid of the baby blue sink, and matching tub and floor. We have plenty of projects to keep us busy, and hopefully we'll be able to pound out a few more this summer.

At this time in 2001 we were sitting in a hot tub drinking champagne, still a little bit in shock that everything came together and that we had the wonderful wedding we had planned and worked hard for (with the help of our friends and family), We have moved four times in the last five years, had seven jobs between us, and numerous adventures both large and small. We have a wonderful handful of a baby, a nice house, and plenty else to be thankful for.,, and through it all we still have each other. We have our moments like everybody else, but we share a bond- a connection, that everyone who knows us can see, and can tell that we are so right for each other in so many ways.

Happy anniversary to us, and here's to many more!

It was good to see them and catch up since the only real way we keep in touch is through John's blog. (short post b/c I have to go back to work...)
