b-dizzle

We went to our first college basketball game last week.  It was pretty empty because the students were still on winter break, but a good introduction for us anyway.  SMC lost to Western Washington, which apparently wasn’t unexpected.  The best part of the game for me was the group of 14 year olds sitting behind us.  They apparently play basketball for their school, and they go to the college games to study their technique.  The three kids behind us were all white, not particularly tall or athletic looking.  I had the most fun at the game listening to them talk about how they could shoot/pass/ defend better than some of the college players.  One of the kid called to his friend B-dizzle (whose name actually turned out to be Brian) to come sit with them.  The same kid also said “come on… drop it like it’s hot” every time one of the SMC players went up for a shot.  Basketball is a pretty big deal here so I am sure we’ll be to more games, and I think it will be more fun when there is a bigger crowd, and when St. Martin’s has a better chance of beating who they are playing.
